Our Services and Facilities

Nestled at the foot of the world-renowned Castlewellan Forest Park, Wood Lodge is a beautiful environment to live in and has a dedicated facilities service manager to oversee the provision of a wide range of services to the patients.

Medical Care

Staff are always on duty to plan and supervise patient’s care, ensuring the highest standards.
Optician and Dentist visits

These occur regularly although you are free to make appointments outside if you prefer.
Physiotherapy

Appointments are arranged through our local GP after an assessment.
Speech and Language Therapy

Appointments are arranged by referral to the South Eastern Trust community S&LT team.
Relaxation Therapy

We provide a range of relaxation therapy techniques as part of our regular activities programme to promote relaxation and the health of patients.
Chiropody

A domiciliary referral can be made to the community chiropodist.
Hairdressing

This service is an additional charge, although patients can go to a hairdresser out of the home.
Meals

Patients are offered choices each day and special diets will be catered for.
Telephones

Patients have access to a phone in the reception and personal phones are acceptable.
Administration Support

Patients have access to administration support and letters can be typed by patients if required.
Benefits Advice

Advice can be provided via the Manager or the Home’s Administrator. Information can be obtained about Pension and Social Security Benefits.
Shopping

Where appropriate we encourage patients to go shopping with relatives or staff. Alternatively, we can purchase goods on their behalf within the necessary safeguards.
Laundry

Is undertaken at the home within the normal fees for service. The home expects all personal clothing to be labelled before admission to the home.
Dry Cleaning

This service can be provided locally at the normal cost.
Transport

We operate a clear and robust policy in relation to transport. Patients may use the people carrier, or bus at an additional cost.
SONAS Therapy

Our highly-trained care team provide therapeutic SONAS activity for people with dementia.
Gardening

The therapeutic use of gardening practices will aim to enrich the daily life of our patients. Plots are available for development by patients under the supervision of trained staff.
Day trips and excursions

Activities are organised regularly which are of interest to patients, to give them a sense of freedom and fun that promotes a sense of well-being.
